PlayStation 5: PS5 Disc Drive Failure

My PS5 (model CFI-1115A) is no longer reading any discs. It takes the disc in, sounds like it's starting to read it, but then it stops. There's an error on the screen that the discs are unreadable. I am assuming this is most likely a laser issue, given that discs insert, spin, and eject just fine. I see that there are replacement lasers available on eBay, as well as replacement drives. Are the lasers compatible with all models, or are there differences between the models? Am I better off getting a full replacement drive, and transferring the daughterboard over?

PlayStation 5: Ps5 wont take discs + beeping and then buzzing sound every 25 seconds

Hello, my PS5 is stuck in safe mode and is showing the error SU-101312-8. The disc drive keeps beeping and then buzzing as if ejecting a disc even though there's none inside. I've already tried checking the drive and also replacing it, but the problem persisted.

I then checked the daughterboard and found that fuse F501 has no continuity. Additionally, the middle pins of the black connector that connects the daughterboard to the motherboard are shorted, along with two capacitors next to it. Should I try replacing the fuse and the capacitors? I don't know their values, though.

PlayStation 5: 3 beeps issue and is the ifixit ps5 power supply returnable?

So, for the last 2 weeks my PS5 would just completely shut off after long (4-6 hrs) PS5 gaming sessions of one particular game. Didn't have this same problem while idling on home screen, running Netflix or less demanding games. The only way to get it back on was after I removed the power plug for quite a while. I usually let it sit off for several hours before even trying to play again. However today after it cut out and I plugging it back in, the PS5 gives 3 beeps 2-3 seconds after plug in and won't boot back up..

My suspicion is the power supply went out because I used it A LOT since 11/2020 and never cleaned it out (I'm lazy 🤷‍♂️)... Bad move, I know.

I feel very comfortable opening it and want to try replacing the power supply. However, if a functioning power supply doesn't actually fix this and I end up not needing it, are their power supplies returnable? How would that go? Can I pay them the return shipping and they just send me a label? I'm paralyzed and in a wheelchair so that would make it much more convenient for me. I don't mind paying a few bucks to try this way but really don't want to lose the full $100. Especially since if it doesn't fix it I'll end up having to drop $500 on a new console.

So any help / opinions about...

1) my console not booting up and if the odds are it IS the power supply AND

2) my questions about returning it if it ends up not fixing my power issue

... would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! 🙂

PlayStation 5: Why can't I download a game I have bought?

I downloaded a trial for Company of Heroes 3 and after my 2 hours trial time, bought it on sale. It never recognised that I had bought it and insisted my 'trial period was over' when trying to play it. Multiple resets later, I was required to do a firmware update. This is it, i thought. Nope.

I decided to reinstall, deleting the game. When going back to the store directly or through my library there is a dollar amount on the COH3 page instead of a download option - looking as though I havn't purchased it. Attempting to purchase again it say I already own this product.

I tried to restore the license though settings, which I have done before, but it appears you can only restore licenses for games that are INSTALLED.

System software up to date, game purchased, no download option. Have I lost my money?

PlayStation 5: My PS5 shuts off completely after 5–10 minutes

Hi everyone,

I’m having a problem with my PS5 (original model with disc drive), and I’m hoping someone can help.

The console works fine on the home screen, but when I play certain PS5 games like Spider-Man 2 or sometimes Fortnite, it suddenly shuts off completely after about 5–10 minutes. The screen instantly goes black, the PS5 loses all power (no lights at all), and I can’t turn it back on unless I unplug the power cable and plug it back in.

I already cleaned the fan and removed the dust I could reach, but the problem is still there. The console isn’t in a closed space and has plenty of airflow around it.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Do you think this sounds like a power supply issue, overheating, or something else?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PlayStation 5: My ps5 shutting down randomly in the game.(Play Station 5)

Hello, my PS5 randomly turns off in the middle of a game, it may turn off after 10 minutes or it may turn off after 8 hours. And to turn it on, I have to unplug the device and then plug it back in. The power supply broke once before and I replaced it. It didn't work for a while, but then I encountered this problem. Even the USB port on the front of the device stopped working, which the repairman said was okay, but in short, it turns off in the middle of a game. I did everything you can think of, I cleaned the device board and the device fan as well, I bought a separate cooling fan for it, but it didn't work. Please help me and tell me where the problem is.

Hi

I managed to release the magic smoke out of my ps5. I can't remember exactly what happened since it was a while ago. Anyway it now has the powers on for two seconds with blue light then switches off fault.

I somehow managed to trace the fault to the area circled in red. All stages but the last two are shorted. I checked in diode mode across each of the capacitors, everyone of them except the last two (bottom) are shorted.

My plan was to remove them one by one and see if the short on each of them disappears. I am hoping it's not the smd ic next to the caps because thats beyond my skill set.

Anyway I can't seem to desolder the cap off. I managed to get one side off but the otherside won't budge. I don't want to use hot air because am inexperienced and there are very very tiny smd components on the other side. What am I doing wrong?

What is this area for anyway?

PlayStation 5: Fan and Capacitor problem edm-030 PS5

Hello guys,

I just bought a broken second-hand PS5 Digital with the blue light of death. The fan connector was also ripped off from the motherboard, as shown in the photo.

I did a voltage injection test on the board and everything seems to be fine, except for one capacitor that gets hot. I removed it because it seemed shorted, but I can’t find any information about its value. I’ll attach a photo showing where that capacitor was located. Nearby that CIP from the Photo.

Also, regarding the fan connector: is there any chance that the blue light of death could be caused by the ripped fan connector?

The console is a PS5 Digital CFI - 1216B, EDM-030.

If anyone has the schematic or boardview for this model, it would be very helpful.
