Nintendo 3DS: My 3ds will not hold a charge for long.

Hello all. I recently purchased a second-hand Nintendo 3DS Standard. I knew what I was getting into when I purchased it used that is just a gamble you play. I was told the battery was not holding a charge and thus got it pretty marked down. Battery replacement seemed like the obvious plan after seeing that indeed the battery would not stay charged. You could Plug it up for 3 hours and within 30 seconds the battery level would indicate that it was at 50% and then it would die. No matter the charge time whether it was 3 hours or 3 minutes. So I ordered a replacement battery, Popped it in there expecting it to fix and the same thing. No matter how long you charge it it will die in moments.

Well after doing some digging all I was able to turn up was that some people claimed to have tripped over the cord while charging and it either bent the pins in the charging port or it broke a solder connection between the motherboard and the charging port. Checked for bent pins and very carefully examined the connections on the motherboard and just for the obvious I checked the connections in the battery compartment. All connections are being made and nothing seems bent or broken (I compared the port pins with a friend's) and even tried a different charger. It works just fine while on the charger and Ive been able to play atleast 10 hours of uninterrupted gameplay before just saying that it works good and setting it down, but I know it's got to be bad to just leave the thing on the charger so I only plug it up when I want to play.

I have updated and reformatted the memory and have even fully charged the battery and let it die over 20x. It appears to stop charging after about 20 minutes then you can turn it on and it will work for approximately 10 minutes before going dead now. Some improvement but nothing praise worthy.

Anyone out there have any ideas that they have in mind that I could check/verify or try to fix? I would ship it off to Nintendo but they are charging 85 for me to mail it and I only paid about 30 bucks for the thing. Like I said though everything works great it just wont hold a charge. It also didn't appear to have suffered water damage.

Thank you for your time and hopefully one of the IFixit gurus out there will see this and know what Is up. I'm gonna run it up to CPR tomorrow just for giggles to see what they think but I don't want to commit to anything until all my options are considered. Because most places are gonna charge me 80 bucks for 10 minutes of labor and a 2 pin resistor.

Nintendo 3DS: Why won't my 3ds read game cards?

Hi, I recently was playing SSB4 on my 3DS, ejected the game card because I wanted to switch to Pokemon Omega Ruby because I was getting tired of smash, and when I tried to put the Pokemon game in the slot, nothing would happen. I turned my 3DS on and off, tried other game cards, did the paper in front of game card trick, and none of it has worked. I love my 3DS very much and I'm on it almost all of the time. If any one can help with this please respond, because I want to make this work ASAP! Thanks!

Nintendo 3DS: How easy would it be to repair the 3DS charge port?

Nintendo 3DS: My 3DS top screen goes dark, bad flex cable maybe?

I've had my 3DS for a few months now, recently the top screen starts going dark, I can usually wiggle it to get it back, its like the backlight goes out or something. I don't know if it the device has been dropped, my 3 year old plays with the device quite often so it is possible. Other than that the device works fine. When I started googling similar problems I found some people talking about the flex cable, I guess it can go bad from just opening and closing the screen on certain models. Anyone encountered this problem or any clue on how I can fix it. My son ripped the serial number sticker off the back of the device so I can't send it back to Nintendo to get fixed. If its something I can fix myself I'd like to that anyway.

Nintendo 3DS: Both screens backlight, but do not display. Why?

Blue powerlight. Volume. I can even get it to go to the 3DS firmware update menu. But I can't see anything on either screen.

After re-assembling my 3DS XL, we booted up the system to see the bottom screen turn on and the touchscreen function but got no display for the top screen. With some digging, we concluded it was the top screen LCD ribbon connector and went back to reconnect it. Indeed, the connector was crooked and we fixed it soundly.

Upon our second re-assembly, we can no longer get either screen to display anything. I have tried a great number of things, such as:

Making sure the wifi card is connected

Reseating the bottom LCD ribbon connector (I'm not sure if this is in all the way.)

Reseating the thinner ribbon connector next to the bottom LCD ribbon connector (The clasp on this connector was broken. However, it stays in like a champ and I'm confident this is not the problem)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I can provide pictures of whatever is needed.

Nintendo 3DS: Why is my 3DS Not Charging?

I recently took out my 3DS and upon trying to charge it, the charging light would not appear. I assumed that the system's charger port was broken, which I researched could be a couple different issues: the two pins on the inside of the port could have been bent, and would need to be bent back into shape to get it working. That didn't do it, so I opened the system up to see if there were any broken connections to the port. They were all in tact, but I applied extra solder to each of them just in case. It didn't fix it. Here are some pictures:

Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo 3DS Camera repair

Hello

I replaced the button sticker of the console due to a problem I had with the buttons and that went perfectly. However, in the process, I teared the camera flex cable a bit and now the back camera doesn't work, it stays on black, doesn't freeze the console.

I guess due to a health problem I have for some time my head isn't where it has to be since it's the first time I tear a flex cable

Replacing the cameras is a bit more difficult, althought for me the most difficult part would be being able to put the screen back without any dust particle inside. Which has been always a pain for me. Is there any other way?

First off, I'm not all that handy of a person.

Hi,

Just got a New 3DS LL today and noticed it already had Luma installed, but no SD card. 3DS boots up fine and plays games fine. Upon inserting an SD card, the system will black screen, with the blue power light remaining on. I’ve tried multiple sd cards, loading Luma on to sd cards, cleaning the sd cards and the sd card slot. Nothing works. Is there something I’m missing? Is the sd card slot cooked and beading to be replaced? I did open it up and check out the slot and it seemed fine, tho there was a screw missing meaning someone has been in there before.

Nintendo 3DS: Demo unit only powers on when plugged in.

My demo unit only powers on when the power cable is plugged in. It automatically powers on, but it shuts off as soon as I remove the cable. When I switch it off, it comes on again after two seconds. Battery charges normally until it's full. I checked the battery voltage, everything is normal. I tried with another battery - same problem, so it's not the battery what's causing this.

I guess Nintendo made some kind of modification to the mainboard. Maybe a jumper, maybe a chip that needs to be replaced, I have no clue.
