Nikon D3400: How can I fix a black screen and little informantion in viewfinder?

Hi there. I purchased this camera yesterday in an attempt to repair and sell for profit, but I'm kind of stumped. It isn't saving pictures, the screen seems to be dead, and in the viewfinder I usually only have err on the bottom left and [ ] on the right, no battery indicator, no shutter information. I have changed batteries and SD cards, nothing. Any ideas would be wonderful! Also I have looked on other forum sites and tried the fixes they mention but none have worked yet.

EDIT: I think that it is the cord going to the display that is causing the issue, but I can't test much of the settings because I can't factory reset it. I need to have the screen to do that.

Nikon D3400: Flash not working properly

The flash will pop up, and the light will come on, but the shutter doesn't take the picture until after the flash is off. It will illuminate if I hold down halfway prior to taking the picture, but when I go to take the picture the flash does not re-engage.
