LG UltraFine 5K: Why is my monitor rapidly flickering (like on and off) like crazy?

Hi, hope someone can help.

I have LG Ultrafine 22MD4KA-B monitor that I am trying to use with my MacBook Pro.

MacBook Pro is Core i9" 2.4 16" 2019 5600M

https://everymac.com/systems/apple/macbo...

At first the problem was that only in MacOS (various versions) monitor blnks like crazy. On the same machine i have BootCamp with Windows 11 and from there monitor works normaly. When i boot in MacOS it automaticly starts to blink and it then continue to blink even if i boot to Windows. Only way to stop that is to disconect monitor from power and wait couple of hours (usualy one night). Then it works normaly again but only in windows not the MacOS.

As i can recal i tried using LG application for this monitor in windows, and when i changed brightness it started with blinking. Again as i recall. At that time I did not used MacOS with this monitor so mabey the problem was already there, and then mabey it started with me and that LG app.

I tried couple of things like disabling auto brightnes, graphic switchnig, and so, but with no success. Also a lot of different USB-C and Thunderbolt cables (this model only have USB-C connection)

Also worth mentioning is that in Internet recovery and as i recall in safe mode it does not fliker (after one night without power).

As I mentioned in another post, it seamed that at some point monitor fixed it self (in windows and macos) but that did not lasted long.

I used monitor like that for a while, but now it started blinking in Windows also, and leting it without power is not working same as before. It continues to bilnk no mater what. Now i left it without power, and will leave it for a few day to see what will happen.

I asume that it is some hardware issue but not sure. I do not have multiple Macbooks to try them. If someome have some suggestion or hint it would be much appreciated. I love this exact model because of screen size and resolution...

LG UltraFine 5K: Green tint on screen

Hey ifixit community,

I have a question about a 24” LG Ultrafine 5K Monitor. The screen shows a picture, but it is equally greenish tinted, see attached photo.

I tried 2 different MacBooks and different cables. Also the screen has 2x usb-C input and it doesn’t make a difference which one I’m using.

I assume it’s a hardware defect on the mainboard, the question is if the defect allows to narrow down, where to search on the mainboard.

Do you have an idea what could possibly be the problem?

Thanks!

LG UltraFine 5K: Suddenly completely dead - even fan doesn't work

Suddenly acts as completely dead - swapped out cables and power with another same monitor which works fine - still dead. My uneducated guess would be power supply or similar - how to check and repair?

LG UltraFine 5K: Replacement part for thunderbolt connector

Does anybody know where I can get a replacement thunderbolt port for this? The one I have is broken off from the board and damaged internally so it needs to be replaced but can't find the part anywhere.

LG UltraFine 5K: Monitor no longer powers on

The monitor no longer powers on, and does not connect or power my MBP. It sounds like this is a common issue. Has anyone else solved?

LG UltraFine 5K: Part of display/backlight won't dim - remains bright

Hi, I have exactly the same issue shown here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JY_OdRQs...

Would this be related to the Texas Instruments LP8860AQ1 LED Driver as shown in the ifixit page here: LG UltraFine 5K Teardown Or Is it likely to be something else?

This is a replacement motherboard from a second hand unit. The thunderbolt port on mine died hence why I replaced the motherboard. Something I have noticed with this new MB is that when you power it on the right hand side of the screen (exactly the area as shown in the video) flashes white - yet my original MB did not do that, hence I am convinced it is the motherboard (the same thing happens with the MB in the original unit (but the screen on that is cracked)).

The only other thing I can think of is it could be the connector for the backlight?

LG UltraFine 5K: Camera, mic, and speakers not working

While my three-year old 27MD5KLB-B's display is excellent, the camera, mic, and speakers have stopped working. I'm pretty sure the issue is with the monitor as they do not work across various MacBooks and even a Windows laptop that I've plugged into it (but display works every time). Any suggestions?

LG UltraFine 5K: Webcam has stopped working

My webcam images went from being highly static-y for a while, to now no longer working. When I launch an application that uses the camera, no image appears and eventually MacOS suggests (within the image window) that I try restarting my computer. That hasn't worked. I suspect it's a hardware issue, but I am not yet sure how to attempt repairs.
