Pioneer VSX-821-K: No Power - not surge related

Used this receiver one day, the next it was dead. There was no power outage or surge. There is no display and not responding to the remote or switch. Checked all the power components and they appear to be okay. Getting power to the unit, but not going through the transformer on the power supply board. Relay is not clicking, not getting the signal to turn on. I tried to trace this problem, but I do not have the service manual for this unit and did not see it anywhere on the internet. Checked your site and you do not have it, but thought maybe you can help look for the problems. Any suggestions on what to check next?

Pioneer VSX-D608: Volume Control Knob Acting Strange

My Pioneer VSX-D608 receiver (from 1999!) is having a small issue with its volume knob. When I twist the knob, sometimes the volume increases a little and then stops, sometimes it will go the opposite direction, and sometimes it does not change whatsoever. This is a video of the behavior. It seems random, but I can get it sometimes to adjust correctly if I twist the very, very slow. Adjusting the volume with the remote works fine, audio/video functions work fine, everything but the volume dial works perfectly. Is there anything I can do? Or am I stuck with the remote to change the volume?

Hello!

My amp is blowing fuses instantly. I would love to get it working again.

It a Fisher amp, CA-27OA. I know it's not the best, but I want to fix it.

I'm not sure what to test for it. I'm new to electrical work, and I'm learning. :) I do have a small multimeter, I just need to know what settings and what to test.

Also, if more pictures are needed, I will supply them ASAP.

Thanks!

Denon AVR-1909: AVR-1909 no audio output

I was hoping someone might help me find a troubleshooting breadcrumb to follow. I don’t want to have to take it entirely apart and test every capacitor, resistor, fuse, and transistor to sort the issue out.

I am looking over a Denon AVR-1909 receiver. The unit will output video but no audio.

Steps I have tried:

Re-seating a headphone jack. I see display note the insertion and removal of the headphones and I can hear the relays clicking over as I insert and remove the jack.

No audio outputs to speakers or headphones for any input selection, including the AM/FM tuner.

Protection history is empty

Resetting the microprocessor did not change the symptoms.

I inspected the inside of the unit for any visible damage, bad solder, blown caps, etc and found none.

Thanks in advance!

Home Audio Receiver Denon AVR391: Why does the receiver turn off after pushing the power button on?

So when I turn on my Receiver from Standby mode it briefly powers on then makes a signal noise error like you are watching static television then the Receiver turns off and a Red Ring flashes around the Power button. I have tried opening the tv hutch door where the Receiver is at to give it more ventilation because I think that could be a possible culprit. Does anyone know anything specific to this brand or model?

Pioneer VSX-D608: Relay is clicking on and off

Hi,

I suspect my Pioneer VSX-D608 has a power supply issue. When I turn it on from standby, the screen turns on and there’s sound from the speakers. But after a few seconds, or after I turn the volume up, I hear the main relay from the power board click and after that the receiver restarts.

I wonder how to troubleshoot this issue - what is the main reason for the relay switching? is the system shorted somewhere or is it a bad component?

Home Audio Receiver: Pioneer VSX-531 Receiver does not power on (HDMI light blinks)

Expert researcher / Novice electrical repair experience (I know enough not to be dangerous, and can fix most basic electronics given enough time)

Source: Found “Free” on OfferUp

Issue:

Unit does not power up

When plugged in, HDMI light flashes (indicating error state)

No other lights illuminate, standby/on button doesn’t function

Error Diagnosis:

(Per user manual): The HDMI indicator blinks and the power does not turn on.

The receiver may have a serious problem. Do not try switching the receiver on. Unplug the receiver from the wall and call a Pioneer authorized independent service company

That’s helpful…?

Troubleshooting:

Able to temporarily clear error by simultaneously pressing “Advanced Surround” and “Standby/on” for 5 seconds

After doing so, unit clicked, initialized, something got hot & smoked for a second

Unit went back into safety power off

Back to HDMI flashing error state

What I’ve done:

Isolated component that was getting hot (smoking): Resistor R14FL

Uninstalled the MOSFET / heatsync daughter board (720-07995-000-0S) from the unit, this board contains the overheating resistor

Resistor tests same ohm resistance (.34) as adjacent resistor on neighbor MOSFET

After a power outage my receiver won't turn on. It shows "Thermal Error" in the display for a few seconds and then turns off again.
