GE Washing Machine: My washer is not sensing that the lid is closed.

I have a GE top load washer model GTW680BSJ5WS. It is not sensing that the lid is closed and therefore will not start. I have replaced the lid lock, unplugged it for an extended period of time, attempted to reset it, and it does not appear that any of the connections are loose. I am completely out of ideas of what is wrong and how to fix it.

GE Washing Machine: My washing machine will not fill. This is not a common problem fix

I have an GE gtw335asn1ww model washing machine that will not fill with water at the start of the cycle. The age of the machine is 3 years and now out of warranty. At this point i am at my wits end, here are the parts that i have recently replaced all are factory. They also have been replaced the past month if that helps.

Main control board (note pressure sensor is built in) WH22X35597

Water sensor valve WH13X26534

Selector switch WH04X29307

Pressure hose WH41X24395

Speed sensor WH03X32158

Mode sensor WH03X30517

Lid lock WH08X32697

Drive belt WH01X27538

When i press start on the machine it will do two bursts of water then the fill light will come on and nothing after.

I have manually filled the machine to test the drain and spin which is fine

The lid does lock, machine does agitate and spin, does drain.

The house lines are free and clear of debris and the electrical lines and fuses replaced last year.

I have put the machine in diagnostic mode and finding the codes online were a pain in the neck as my machine's paper inside the machine was not there. Every selection i made in the test mode seemed to work.

I have reset the motor ( lifting the lid several times)

I have cleared the little part that the pressure hoes goes into.

The water is on, and no kinks to the lines.

Now this morning i had left the machine unplugged overnight and when i pressed start it spun three sets of spinning filled a little water, agitated a few minutes, spun and drained. But after that it went right back to the original problem. Two bursts of water with the fill light on but nothing else.

I swear this is the worst washing machine i have ever owned.

GE Washing Machine: Spin Cycle - Clothes Get in a Tangled Ball & Water Doesn't Spin Out

I have a GE WSLP1500HWW HE Top Loader Washing Machine. This problem began suddenly; it wasn't a gradual problem that got worse with time.

The wash cycle runs like normal and when it's time to drain and spin, all visible water from the tub does get drained out. But when the spin cycle starts, the clothes end up in a tangled ball on one side of the tub, which causes the load to be unbalanced while spinning. I pause the machine and untangle the clothes and arrange them around the tub like normal, but when I resume the spin cycle it just happens again.

This happens no matter what size load I run. I do always make sure that the clothes are arranged evenly around the tub, avoiding the center.

Could anyone help with what could be causing this? Would it be difficult for a layman to repair?

GE Washing Machine: Tips to replace GE washer inlet valve circa 1990

Hello: washing machine fills and operates fine on Cold. No water coming in on Hot side. Up to now, I removed the hot side hose from the washer, and use it to manually fill the tub with hot water.

Am preparing to replace the valve. Was surprised to see the hard bend in the outlet hose when it exits the valve. See pictures. What is the best way to remove that outlet hose? Try to slide the clamp away from the valve and down the hose? I am concerned about the outlet line leaking. I thought I saw a crack, but seems to be a mold mark that runs the length of the hose.

Is it helpful to remove the sheet metal colored panel to get some more working room?

It appears the outlet line is part of an assembly that directs water into the tub. Am trying to avoid leaks when I install hose on new valve. Could I use a metal screw-type clamp, instead of the spring type?

Any tips from those who have performed this job are appreciated. Thank You

GE Washing Machine: GE Profile WPRE8150K2WT grinding and spewing bits of rubber

My GE washer has been making grinding noises on and off for a few months. The other day I found a bunch of small dark bits of stuff in the tub when the wash finished, which I figured was from something my husband left in his pocket. It just happened again and I realized that those dark bits were actually small pieces of rubber that must have come from inside the machine. Yikes! Clearly this is a serious problem. Is there a solution?

I have a GE GTW485ASJWS a couple nights ago while I was watching tv I noticed a sound and when I went to investigate I found that my washer was draining while the lid of the washer was up and no lights where on when I shut the lid. I tried to turn the dial to see if that would help but no light came on. I then proceeded to unplug my washer and replug it and it started back up with the adraining while off. None of the buttons work and the lights won't come on, I'm at a loss at what to do. Sadly I live in the country and no repair people will come out to look at it. Can anyone help me figure out this problem so I can wash the ever growing pile of laundry?

GE Washing Machine: Washer not agitating or spinning

I have a GE top loading washer, model #WJSR4160G2WW, recently it has stopped agitating and spinning, it fills as normal, and then makes sounds like it might want to agitate or spin, but it doesn't, and then it will drain as much as it can without spinning water out of the clothes, and they come out soaking wet. We have replaced the door assembly, and checked the belt, it is fine and intact. I will be the first to admit that I am not the most mechanically inclined person, but I am hoping I can fix it myself. I was thinking maybe it was the door magnet, because there is no click when I open the door up, but I am not sure. Please help, I do not have money to hire someone or to buy a new one. Thanks!!!

General Electric GTW460ASJ7WW: Question About a Piece of Junk That GE Calls a Washing Machine

I have a GE gtw460asj7ww top loading washing machine with an agitator. It was purchased in 2017 (big mistake).

It has decided that it doesn't want to spin, but not always. If it's a very light load, it fills, washes, rinses, spins, and completes its cycles just fine. But if it has as many as four bath towels in it, the following happens:
a) The spin light starts flashing
b) The washer grinds away as though it is trying to drain
c) It stops and goes silent for a minute but the spin light remains flashing
d) It fills back up with water
e) It drains the water again but does not spin
f) It then shuts off, unlocks the lid, and leaves me with a bunch of sopping wet clothes.

I have replaced all four suspension rods, thinking that it might be going out of balance too easily but that made zero difference.

It seems like it has become overly sensitive to any out of balance condition, but none of the YouTube videos mention a balance sensor... drum speed sensor, yes.

What's next? New main circuit board?

TIA

GE Washing Machine: My front display panel has no power, but the drum light is on.

My GE frontload washer (model number GFW850SPN0RS) has no lights at all coming on the display, but the drum light is on. I have unplugged it, reset it, and the lights on the display panel flash for a quick half of a second and go off when I plug it in again. The drum light is on, and the washer makes a noise like it is getting ready to drain. That noise eventually stops as well.

If I leave it plugged in, it will randomly start that same noise again but no lights come on. The drum light is always on when it is plugged in. Any help at all would be appreciated!

Update (02/12/26)

I don't even have lights on the main power board. The 2 green lights that should be on are not coming on at all when it's plugged in. I do have 120VAC coming in from the plug.

Update (02/14/26)

Now I have some other issues going on. I put the new board in, and the washer powered up and worked. However...... now I have some strange things happening:

The soap dispenser gets emptied completely with every load.

The softener and bleach dispensers are half full of water after every load.

The smart dispense does not work any more. I can't select the level (light, normal, heavy) any more, and when I change the load size or spin speed, it turns off completely..

When i hit diagnostic mode the following 3 errors come up: 91,38,26.

What in the world is going on?

Update (02/15/26)

Thanks again Jayeff, but the washer was working perfectly before the control board went out. I lost display. Now that I have replaced the board, I have display back but all of these new problems that I didn't have before. Is it possible that the new board I put in had the right component to fix the original problem, but still be a bad board causing others? Would I be better off to order a new control board and send that one back before going too far down the rabbit hole?

Update (02/15/26)

OK. After some research I have completely fixed the problem and the washer is working perfectly. What I didn't know, was that when you put in a new control board, you have to program in the correct personality code for your specific model. Once I did that, all the problems that had popped up went away.
