All screws are out. But I'm stuck on the part right after screws are out. Nothing is moving nor opening. It's standing as if I didn't unscrew anything. I can't take the top board off because I'm afraid I'll damage wires.

Air Conditioning: Midea U-shaped A/C filter?

Does anyone have the right part number for the air filter for Midea U-shaped window units? this one looks like it's right, but hard to tell.

I don't absolutely need a new filter, but prefer to have one spare to swap in when it needs cleaning. Thank you.

ETA: Midea models MAW08V1QWT and MAW12V1QWT both use this filter, according to the parts finder on Midea's site.

Central Air Conditioners: Can I replace my AC compressor with a heat pump

The compressor on my central air conditioner 3,5 ton (42) seized up and needs to be replaced. Can I replace it with a used heat pump (SearsNHP042gka1) and leave the indoor furnace alone. Both are R22 and I have spare gas.

Air Conditioning: Stationary AirCon unit overheated compressor

Hi all. I'm new to the page and after some research I couldn't find similar topic/issue.

We have a floor standing unit Amcor 12000 BTU and after about a year of usage as aircon in summer occasionally and more often ad dehumidifier in winter it suddenly stopped blowong cold air.

They didn't accept it under warranty as apparently the “exhaust “ pipe wasnt lined up in less than 30 degrees to the unit which they said caused a compressor overheating. Unfortunately I wasnt aware of that and when they asked for a video and picture how the unit is positioned I didn't adjust it to meet the criteria so they have an evidence that it wasnt - my bad.

My question is, can this be fixed or I'm looking at purchasing new unit?

The unit cost was around 380GBP and they offered me a new unit deal for £250 plus this faulty one.

While the AC is working some of the electronic switches don’t seem to be working ( see pics ) . Is there a way to test them? or where can they be purchased I feel they must be a pretty cheep item. Also what exactly are they called?? Thanks

Hope these pics help. If I put the leads on right two contacts it could be open or closed. When I work the switch that should change to the opposite of what it was ??

Air Conditioning: Why is my plug overheating>?

Hi everyone,

I just bought a second hand window A/C unit. (Bad move, I know...) Its working well, but the plug is getting very hot. When I take it out of the socket, the prongs are hot enough to burn me. The strange thing is that the wire itself doesn't feel hot, only the plug. When I used an extension cord the whole extension cord heated up.

I tried 2 different sockets on 2 different circuits and got the same results. The A/C is 12 amp, on a 16 amp breaker.

Anyone have an idea what the problem could be, and can it be fixed?
